had the pleasure of witnessing Piotr’s remarkable engagement and impact on COWI's digital

development journey.

From the moment he joined us, Piotr demonstrated a strong passion for innovation in

digitalization, consistently pushing the boundaries of what was possible – even in the face of

challenges. He played a key role in advancing next-generation Virtual Reality applications and

integrating Unreal Engine into our workflows. Furthermore, he explored the potential of 3D

printing for project marketing and presentation purposes, showcasing how far this technology

can be pushed in our industry. Additionally, he worked seamlessly with other COWI specialists,

fostering a shared vision for digital transformation.

Piotr also served as a strong ambassador for COWI’s digitalization efforts, often dedicating his

I had the pleasure of working as direct manager for Piotr Zbierajewski during his

four years at COWI, where he developed into a skilled and insightful professional.

From the beginning, Piotr was a well-liked colleague, known for his

Piotr startede i COWI 1/2-2021 som specialist i 3D visualisering. Vi valgte Piotr fordi han udover god erfaring med det tekniske også havde erfaring fra arkitekt- og ingeniørbranchen. Hvor det at kunne arbejde selvstændigt og argumentere for sine valg af løsninger og metoder overfor kunder og kolleger som ikke er specialister i 3D visualisering er en forudsætning for et godt samarbejde. Her har Piotr leveret over en bred kam.

Piotr har i hele perioden arbejdet med visualiseringer til miljøvurderinger hvor vi specielt har haft glæde af hans grundighed og arbejde med at standardisere rutiner indenfor visualisering, således opgaver let kan overleveres mellem kolleger. Dette har stor betydning i en hverdag med mange projekter der er kræver hurtig respons.

I de senere år har Piotr arbejdet med realtime visualisering i Unreal Engine og har lagt et stort arbejde i dels det tekniske, dels opdyrkning af områder i COWI hvor realtime visualisering kan anvendes. Her er det specielt Piotrs evne til at kommunikere med kolleger der har åbnet døre i COWI.

Recommentation regarding Piotr Zbierajewski

Piotr has been a commited and valued member of COWI 3D Team for many years, brin-

ging his key skills to the benefit of infrastructure, social, cultural and offshore projects.

Specifically, his vast knowledge of real-time 3D rendering programs, such as Unreal

Engine 5, is what separates him from the majority of 3D specialists, and what brought Piotr

to closer work with VR-AR Tech Community in COWI··Arkitema. It is exactly his commit-

ment and passion within Virtual Reality that this recommendation letter will ellaborate

further on.

One of the projects that Piotr excelled at was an upcoming Kalø Visitor Centre for the client

of national park Mols Bjerge. The Visitor Center is to be established in Kalø Vig with a view

of the over 700-year-old Kalø Castle Ruin, which stands as a cultural beacon in a magnifi-

cent ice age landscape. Apart from providing the all-too-known 3D rendered images for the

upcoming building, there was a need to add something extra – something that would pro-

vide an easier comprehension of volume, rooms, guest access, arrival impression for the

eventual visitors as well as employees at the Centre. Hence, it was decided to prepare a

Virtual Reality model, which would answer all questions that simple renders could not. Piotr

took the whole process in his hands – and made sure the 1,5x1,5km drone mesh scan of

the area, architect’s 3D building model as well as heritage building photogrammetry scan

were combined in Unreal Engine 5 and brought to superb visual quality – all to be eventu-

ally presented to National Park’s board committee in Virtual Reality.

What’s more, Piotr being tech-savvy and very confident in his hardware skills allowed for

delivering the whole VR setup directly to client’s doorstep for an eventual live presentation

in a 1700s farmhouse, located at Mols Bjerge national park.

The project above and many more have made a major contribution to the development and

knowledge sharing of VR technology withing the company, allowing for more colleagues

and clients to experience a usually unknown dimension of their design.

With Piotr’s positive and proactive approach to the tasks set, he engages with all stakehol-

ders and drives the development of various ideas – both big and small, and it’s what allows

me to give my best reccommentations to him as a person and as a colleague.

Piotr has been employed as architect in Arkitema since 01 September 2017. He has been involved in several projects, including and cooperation with our other architects, including Living MJS and the competition department.

Piotr has made visualizations, and has shown a good technique as well as a good understanding of the subject, thus contributing to both commercial and residential projects. In addition, he has worked with Enscape and REVIT, in collaboration with our competition department.

As the founder of BESSARDs’ Studio and Powerhouse Company I had pleasure of having Piotr Zbierajewski as an intern for period of 6 months between August 2016 and January 2017.

During this period Piotr has been working as a fully integrated part of the team and on a diversity of projects. These included transformation of a farm into a private Villa, the energy renovation of an apartment building in Copenhagen, two high end villas in Taarbæk (DK) and the competition for a new school of architecture in Aarhus.

During his internship Piotr has worked in direct contact with me and I could witness his numerous skills and qualities.

Piotr has an outstanding professional experience for an intern. He is able to understand and engage both in the creative and the technical phases of a project which is quite rare at this early stage of a professional career. He is very dedicated to his work, engaged, curious and enjoys multitasking.

On the top of his architectural skills Piotr has very advances computer skills. He has had a pivotal role in the migration of our working methods from traditional CAD programs to BIM. During this period, Mr Piotr selflessly visited our construction site and was creating a photo story (...) Many times, we have used his photographs for the needs of promotion of the investor and construction, which was the National Sports Centre. At the same time, he was organising many trips for the SkyscraperCity forum members and the students of the Warsaw University of Technology. Based on experience gained during this construction, he has also successfully completed construction internship, required by his department, which today is used as an example of complete and well done written and photographic development of internship at the same university.

From the year 2013 until now [2015], Mr Piotr Zbierajewski has been taking pictures at a construction site of the Warsaw Spire office complex, the largest site of this type in Europe. These photographs are used for the needs of promotion of both the construction and investments of the Ghelamco company in the media.
