Łódź Design 2012
This was a work done in CENTRALA. We have introduced colour, energy and an element of surprise to the interior of the building that previously served as the weaving and spinning mill of the textile factory “Naum Eitingon and S-ka”. A multi-colour mesh structure was interlaced with all storeys of the building. Polychromatic surfaces and wisps of taut tape were spread out in the factory space that is characterised by glass elevations and a pattern of reinforced concrete posts. The tape have out- lined particular zones, emphasising important points and guide visitors through the Festival Centre.

At the same time, this design solution will not disrupt the aesthetic qualities of the building. The usage of capillary boards allows for interweaving furniture, displays and vertical partitions into the structure. The delicate structure was constituting the element linking particular exhibitions that were present in every nook and cranny of the pictures from assembling the project building.
Our intention was to evoke associations with the contemporary art of urban knitting, folk festivals, and – first and foremost – with the city’s past and the history of the Old Weaving Mill. And so they had weaved that year’s exhibition together.
